I'm having another studio day at home. All of our electrical at work is getting replaced because of flood damage. My mind is blown every time I drive down a new road and see the damage caused from the flash flood. I'm talking full 12-24in sections of the road just washed out and gone, with rubbish and debris dried up on one side of the tall trees as a whisper of how powerful the water can become. It's heartbreaking and terrifying all at once. Here's to hoping it is a once in a lifetime experience for us.

I mentioned the other day that I have been trying out new art mediums like colored pencils and water soluble oil paints with not much success. I kept on trying though, and I picked up watercolor paints next. I have to say, I'm quite enjoying the results! The experience is similar to painting with my ceramic underglaze paints and the finished painting is beautiful. I am reading a book on watercolors trying to better understand how to use them. I'm excited to use this technique for preliminary designs for more mug paintings, and also to create finished artworks without relying on the kiln gods and the clay process. More to come on that.

My friends, Carole and Dujoh, are coming for a visit next week! I'm so excited to see them, and show them around Vermont and Boston, Mass. We've got plans to go to the local watering holes, snack bars, and art museums. Fair warning the blog posts might be sparse.
